Homemade Laundry Soap

“I love doing laundry!! Except for putting it in the dryer, taking it out, folding it and putting it away.” –Everyone. ever.

Ugh.. Laundry. The chore that never ends.

Homemade laundry soap that costs $0.02 a load? Yep. No plastics involved. Just 3 simple ingredients and 10 minutes. That’s it. Promise.

  • Two cups of Borax.
  • Two cups of Washing Soda.
  • 1 Grated bar of Fels-Naptha (or any kind of bar soap, i use this one because it’s specific towards laundry.)

Mix all ingredients together and put in a Mason jar or whatever your heart desires! Use 1-2 heaping TBSP in each load of dirty clothes, depending on the soil level. Ta-Da! That’s it!

Bonus Tip: White vinegar works great as a fabric softener! Add 1/4 cup in your washing machine’s fabric softener dispenser. Mix with your favorite essential oil if you’d like! No. It won’t make your clothes smell like vinegar.

  4. Does this work with HE washing machines? Would love to see an alternative to dryer sheets if you have one! Main ingredient in dryer sheets is beef fat ….no thank you. 🤮

    1. I haven’t tried it specifically in the HE machines, but I see absolutely no reason why it wouldn’t work! And I’ve got a new blog about a great alternative to dryer sheets up my sleeve for this week’s blog! Follow me and get an instant update when I post it! 😃
